Constitutional Council marks 44th anniversary of the Islamic Revolution

The Constitutional Council- in a statement on Friday- commemorated the 44th anniversary of the Islamic Revolution and renewed allegiance with the ideals of the Islamic Revolution, late Imam Khomeini and Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei.
The Iranian nation overthrew the despotic regime of Pahlavi, which was fully supported by the United States in the winter of 1979. The struggle against the shah regime reached full fruition on February 11, 1979.

By December 1978, millions of Iranians had taken to the streets in protest against the policies of the shah – Mohammad Reza Pahlavi – on a regular basis.

Imam Khomeini returned to Iran from exile on February 1, 1979. He was received by millions of people weeks after the departure of the shah in mid-January 1979.

The collapse of the Pahlavi regime became certain on February 11 when the military renounced its loyalty to the shah and joined the Revolution.

Following is the full text of the statement:

Those who say, "Our Lord is God," then lead a righteous life—they have nothing to fear, nor shall they grieve.

Forty-four years ago, the great people of Iran, chanting the slogan of "Independence, Freedom, and the Islamic Republic", and under the leadership of a religious authority, overthrew the despotic regime [of pahlavi] and cut off the roots of arrogance to take path of dignity.

That [1979] revolution took place at a time when the west was seeking to exclude religion and spirituality from the lives of humans and Zionists were after humiliating Muslim nations in order to create a new world order. The East was also trying to wage communist revolutions in different countries. Therefore, the emergence of the Islamic Revolution surprised theorists and analysts and opened up a new path ahead of world’s freedom-seekers.

The reverberation of the voice of the Islamic Revolution in the past four decades has been heard throughout the world, making the oppressed hopeful. An exemplary unity has also emerged among Muslim nations in the form of an axis of resistance that stands against the plots of arrogance and Zionism and has not allowed their dreams to come true from the Nile to the Euphrates and the new world order and the disintegration of countries, including Iran.

Now that signs of changing priorities and transfers of power have emerged in the international system, and the United States and the West can no longer actualize their wills as before, enemies are trying to deviate the Iranian people from the glorious path of the Islamic Revolution by igniting the fires of sedition and turmoil. But the enemies know well and admit that their efforts have not gone and will not go anywhere, and once again they have failed to push the Iranian people out of the path of the Islamic Revolution.

The great people of the Islamic Iran will show on Friday that- despite the existing problems- they will still stand hopefully and determinedly in the path of the Islamic Revolution and will once again change the equations of the enemies and bring them into their knees. The peaks of dignity and progress are available and hopefully officials and authorities with wise efforts and people’s contribution would bring the Islamic Republic of Iran to the pinnacle of glory.
