Ayatollah Seyed Ahmad Khatami

Ayatollah Seyed Ahmad Khatami was born in 1960 in Iran's northern province of Semnan. He is a senior cleric, member of the Constitutional Council and a senior member of the Assembly of Experts.

On November 2, 2020, Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei appointed him as a new member to the Constitutional Council’s board of Fuqaha (Islamic jurists) after one of its long-serving members resigned because of poor health. He replaced Ayatollah Mohammad Yazdi in the council, who passed away at age 89 in December the same year.

Ayatollah Khatami is also a member of the Society of Seminary Teachers of Qom as well as the Supreme Council of Qom's Hozeh Elmiyeh (Islamic seminary).
