Constitutional Council renews allegiance with ideals of Islamic Revolution

“The Ten-Day Dawn festivities mark a great and historic epic created by the Iranian nation under the leadership of Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini. Inspired by the school of thought of the Infallibles (SA), the glorious epic, the victory of the Islamic Revolution, overthrew the US-backed Pahlavi regime and established an Islamic system,” the statement read.

It added, “Millions of Iranians welcomed the charismatic leader in Tehran on February 1, 1979. Imam Khomeini’s arrival intensified months of popular protests against the Pahlavi regime. Ten days later, the rallies culminated in the downfall of the dependent and puppet Pahlavi regime, bringing the curtain down on more than two millennia of monarchy in Iran”.

“Today, Iran is celebrating the 43rd anniversary of the Islamic Revolution. In the past 43 years, the country, under the guidelines of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamanei, has managed to stand up against enemies’ excessive demands and thwart their schemes”.

“The Islamic Republic has turned into a role model and a source of inspiration for the oppressed of the world in the face of the oppressors”.

The Constitutional Council will keep up safeguarding the Islamic Revolution and the Constitution, the statement concluded.

The Iranian nation overthrew the despotic regime of Pahlavi, which was fully supported by the United States in the winter of 1979. The struggle against the shah regime reached full fruition on February 11, 1979.

By December 1978, millions of Iranians had taken to the streets in protest against the policies of the shah – Mohammad Reza Pahlavi – on a regular basis.

Imam Khomeini returned to Iran from exile on February 1, 1979. He was received by millions of people weeks after the departure of the shah in mid-January 1979.

The collapse of the Pahlavi regime became certain on February 11 when the military renounced its loyalty to the shah and joined the Revolution.
