Spokesman holds press conference on 13th presidential election

According to the Council’s public relations office, the press conference was at 10:30 a.m. (local time). It was held at IRIB’s international conference hall with presence of national and international media outlets.

The spokesman answered questions from the media about the June 18 presidential election, qualification and disqualification process of candidates, supervision process, and health protocles amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

During the press briefing, Kadkhodaei said, "As far as supervision is concerned, it is the law that has to be the criterion, not personal preferences. The Council never follows personal preferences".

He also said that certain measures have been taken to observe health protocols on Fiday, such as setting up more polling stations to avoid overcrowding and setting them up outdoors.

Kadkhodaei once again stressed that the health of people and elections is intertwined and is of paramount importance to the Constitutional Council and other bodies.

The 13th presidential election in Iran will be held simultaneously with council and midterm parliamentary and Assembly of Experts elections on June 18.
