Neglected areas of Iran's Constitution need attention: Spokesman

"Some articles and provisions of the Constitution have been implemented and some parts have been left abandoned and need to be addressed. The Constitution has many powers and strengths and we should activate them," Hadi Tahan-Nazif said on Tuesday on the occasion of the National Day of Constitution in a meeting with university students at Allameh Tabatabee University.

He added that the neglected capacities of the Constitution should be activated and reflected in the policies, functions and behaviors of the three branches of powers, institutions and executive bodies.

Elsewhere in his remarks, the spokesman of the vetting body pointed to the general policies of the seventh plan emphasized by the Leader of the Islamic Revolution three years ago and said, "These policies should be implemented and reflected in the codification and compilation of laws as well as the procedure for ratification of bills and motions".

Ayatollah Khamenei, in the implementation of paragraph one of Article 110 of the Constitution, presented the general policies of the seventh plan, which were determined after consultation with the Expediency Discernment Council and with the priority of economic progress combined with justice, to the heads of the three branches, the Chairman of the Expediency Discernment Council and the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces.

The Constitutional Council attaches significant importance to the restoration of public rights, the spokesman stressed.
