Instagram blocks Constitutional Council account

American photo and video sharing social networking service Instagram has blocked the Constitutional Council’s official account in yet another attack on freedom of expression.

The Constitutional Council’s public relations office reported on Sunday that the vetting body’s account at https://www.instagram.com/shora_gc/ has been disabled without notice and any explanation.

The Council joined Instagram back in 2019, and had been posting news-related videos and photos on the social networking app about its statements and latest decisions.

Back in November 2021, Instagram disabled the Constitutional Council spokesperson’s account.

The Council has repeatedly filed complaints with the social networking service to reactivate the accounts.

The Council’s new page is available at https://www.instagram.com/shora.gc/ .

Over the past years, the United States has, for several times, taken similar measures against Iranian officials and media outlets whose accounts on Twitter, Instagram, and Google-owned services have been targeted.
