Intl. Quds Day has saved issue of Palestine from oblivion: Ayatollah Jannati

International Quds Day was initiated by the late founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran Imam Khomeini [soon after ‎the victory of the country’s Islamic Revolution in 1979], Ayatollah Jannati said on Wednesday ahead of the upcoming International Quds Day.

“The occasion is marked annually on the last Friday of the holy fasting month of Ramadan so that the issue of Palestine not drift into oblivion,” he went on to add.

The top cleric added that naming a day as the Quds day as well as Palestinian resistance groups’ continued bravery and sacrifices have added to the global hatred against the occupying Zionist regime.

The International Quds Day is an annual event during which demonstrators express their solidarity with the Palestinian people and opposition to the occupation of the Palestinian territories by the Zionist regime of Israel.

The day is also seen as the legacy of the late founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Imam Khomeini, who officially declared the last Friday of the holy month of Ramadan as International Quds Day back in 1979.
