Ayatollah Jannati offers condolences on passing of Bosnian politician
In a message on Tuesday, Ayatollah Jannati said, “The demise of our Mujahid brother, Mr. Hasan Cengic, filled my heart and his comrades’ in Axis of resistance with grief and sorrow”.
The senior cleric further underlined the valuable struggle of Cengic, noting, “The brave and patriotic man along with late former president Ali Ezzat Begovic [one of the great Muslim heroes in the new century] played a key role in defending their people as well as their territorial integrity”.
Cengic’s continuous efforts to safeguard Bosnia and Herzegovina while his country was under the cruel US sanctions were heroic and priceless, the chief of the Guardian Council stressed.
Ayatollah Jannati offered sympathy to his bereaved family and all Muslims around the world, and prayed for the departed soul to rest in peace.
Cengic, who undertook many important duties for his country, was among the founders of the Democratic Action Party. He served as Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister of Bosnia and Herzegovina. He fought for an independent Bosnia and Herzegovina all his life.
