Voting a political obligation, social responsibility: Tahan-Nazif
Voting in elections is not only a political obligation but also a social responsibility, Constitutional Council spokesman Hadi Tahan-Nazif said.
“Participation in elections and the right to determine the destiny is among the basic rights [of citizens]. Every citizen has the right to decide the political future of himself and his children during an election process,” Tahan-Nazif said in an interview on Tuesday.
He added that every citizen also deserves the right to decide which party could have the chance to take the helm of power in the country.
The spokesman further noted that elections could serve as a “prelude to reforming the country’s affairs and thus voting is both a political obligation and social responsibility”.
People participate in elections to solidify the foundations of structure of governance in a country, Tahan-Nazif said.
